As we detail in our documentation, one of the more likely problems with msg2you is setting up and using your SMTP server. Setting it up isn't a problem ... whether it works for you could be.
This problem is a result of anti-spamming measure by the cell providers. As you can imagine, they have to be very thorough to make sure that spammers can't start sending text messages to their cell users. This means that they err on the side of not allowing text messages sent via email where there is any question about the SMTP server from which they are sent. We tried GoDaddy and it didn't work, presumably because it is an ISP that can be used by spammers at some level. We have had success with our own hosted Exchange Server's SMTP services.
If you get error messages back indicating the email text messages aren't being received, try the following:
1. Contact your cell provider for a list of accepted SMTP servers.
2. Use an internal SMTP server.
3. Try any of the servers that we will have listed here in a post that other users have used successfully.
If none of these work, there are a number of free to low-fee SMTP relay service providers you can try. We will keep the list updated as we find out which ones work and which ones don't.
1. Google mail - you can setup a Google mail account that let's you send a limited number (we've seen 500 daily as the limit) of emails. See this
link for information on how to set it up. Gmail accounts are free.
2. Check this
list for a list of for-fee SMTP relay providers.
We will update this as we find our more. Please let us know your results so we can share them with others.
