ImageThe Time Matters/Front Office/Total Practice Advantage Document Management System (DMS) is a powerful tool for automatically saving documents. Some firms have a need to move documents from the TM DMS to another folder. Examples include:

  • A firm needed to get a variety of litigation documents from a particular case on to a CD for discovery. They didn't need all the documents ... they needed very specific documents. This created the need to be able to filter the DMS for certain document types, by certain authors, and then copy them to a temporary folder where they could be burned to a CD.
  • A lawyer was leaving a firm and needed to get all the documents that he had authored, and all documents for his cases, burned to a CD.

To accomplish this we needed the ability to filter the DMS in a number of different ways, and then to copy them to a meaningful folder structure.

  • The solution is docs2go, a utility that lets you easily copy documents out of the TM DMS to another location.

docs2go is priced at $300 per site. This is a one-time purchase.

Service releases will be available at no cost. Version updates will be available at a discounted fee.

 
Return on Investment
The Return on Investment analysis for docs2go is very straightforward. If you were to have someone in your office poke through the documents that are in the TM DMS in order to select a variety of documents based on a variety of criteria - case, client, staff, code, etc. - the value of the time they would spend doing this would greatly exceed the one time cost of docs2go.
 
Installation

docs2go is delivered as an executable program, licensed for your firm. It takes less than a minute to install. Configuration requires that you know:

  • Your SQL Server name
  • SQL sa user name
  • SQL sa user password
  • The name of the your Time Matters SQL database (typically somehting like TimeMatters9), and the "owner" of the database (typically tm9user)

The User Manual will then walk you through the rest of the configuration.
